“DENT” is an Ethereum-based utility token issued by the decentralized trading platform of the same name. The company behind the platform, “Dent Wireless”, positions itself as the first digital and mobile operator. The token was issued for the purpose of tokenization of telecommunications assets, for the purchase and sale of mobile communication packages.

“DENT Wireless LTD”, headquartered in Hong Kong, started operations in 2014. Members of the DENT team criticize the complexity and fragmentation of the telecommunications industry and try to destroy the monopolistic business models that developed at the end of the last century. Instead, the company is offering a better solution, with plans to introduce eSIM technology, which could potentially become the new standard for mobile data.

The platform has 26 million users from over 80 countries who share data for SIM-enabled devices. The company plans to add 20 more countries to the global eSIM package.

The project is an attempt to democratize the world of mobile data. The platform turns mobile data into a commodity that can be exchanged with other participants in the system. The founders of the project consider SIM cards to be an obsolete technology that should be replaced.

The purpose of the platform is to create an economy of mobile data exchange with the possibility of buying, selling or transferring them. Thus, the native token of the platform can become a worldwide currency for transferring mobile data between telecommunications companies and the community. With the spread of such a currency, the problem of expensive roaming will be solved. In addition, the project plans to simplify the purchase of mobile data for consumers and IoT devices.

Dent relies on research showing that users lost almost $5 billion in 2016 because the data plans they purchased were either unused or expired.

The platform aims to enable members of its ecosystem to share mobile data with others instead of letting this asset expire. Using the technology developed by Dent, it becomes possible to transfer unused power to other participants in the system. eSIM allows users to break through the barriers of legacy technology and choose the network of their choice.

However, destroying the established market, the company invites all its current participants to connect to the platform and offer their services to customers. The platform tries to create healthy competition between service providers so that consumers can easily choose the right plan without having to buy additional services often included in packages.

On March 31, 2021, “DENT Gigastore”, the world's first global platform for eSIM mobile data resellers, was launched. The packages sold on the platform are valid in over 60 countries for a year.

The “DENT” token is a currency for trading mobile data via the Ethereum blockchain. Tokens and mobile data are smart contracts within the blockchain that have made it possible to automate the financial process. The platform helps connect telcos and users who are no longer individual customers but a huge, strong community with a lot of power consumption.

The ICO held on July 12, 2017 raised $4,300,000.

Tero Katajainen, founder and CEO of the platform, has co-founded several startups in the past. He studied electrical engineering at the University of Tampere, Finland. Vast experience in the field of Forex trading systems contributed to his work on DENT. He was one of the first developers who introduced direct payment systems of mobile operators into consumer applications.

In 2017 other co-founders joined the project to work on DENT products. Mikko Linnamaki is a co-founder who previously founded several Internet companies, including “Dovecot Oy”, which developed the world's most popular IMAP server, boasting over 4 million installations worldwide.

Andee Vollmer, co-founder, worked at TD Software, which develops applications for well-known brands such as Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Deutsche Post, GLS, etc.

The platform has partnerships with Samsung blockchain, G+D Mobile Security, GSMA, bunq, and others.
