“Harmony” is a fast and secure blockchain with improved sharding and P2P networking.

Harmony is effective in helping companies build markets for fungible tokens (such as energy credits and loyalty points) and non-fungible assets (such as game collectibles and real estate).

Communication in Harmony takes place using zero-knowledge proof. The privacy of the user is preserved. Industry use cases include ad exchanges, credit scores, and many other data consortiums.

Harmony uses deep sharding with innovations at both the protocol and network levels of the blockchain:

- Highly scalable FFT consensus (fast and fault tolerant) using multi-signature BLS.

- Secure distributed randomness generation protocol using VDF (Verifiable Delay Function).

- Sharding with adaptive proof-of-stake for strong network security.

- Kademlia routing and erasure coding for optimal network performance.

“ONE” is Harmony's native token. It is used for staking, which is required to participate in the POS consensus and receive block rewards and transaction fees. The token is used to pay transaction fees, gas and storage fees. The token is used when voting for on-chain protocol governance. Harmony has developed its own wallet software for storing tokens, available for download on its website.

Harmony has a solid ecosystem-building strategy focused on building partnerships. Through these relationships, the protocol is being implemented across a variety of key use cases: gaming, data sharing, open markets, traceability, and supply chains.

Harmony helps companies adopt tokens and drive user engagement. Notable key partners include Animoca (the parent company of gaming assets such as Garfield), Contentos (a content platform with 60 million monthly users) and Timeless (a marketplace for calendar-based services).

Harmony was founded in 2017 by Stephen Tse, Ph.D. in cryptography from the University of Pennsylvania. Harmony is a team of professionals with experience at Google, Amazon, Microsoft and other tech giants.

Harmony strives to combine the creation of offline and online communities. Since 2017, the Harmony team has been holding weekly 4-hour meetings in San Francisco to increase interest in the project and expand the community of partners.
